Importance of Carbon Dioxide

laurenmimms2

Despite what many believe, Co2 and oxygen are not inverses of one another; in fact, they work together and both are critical to our well-being. The more CO2 we acquire, the more oxygenated our tissues are. As we consume bicarbonates, found mainly in spring water & some fruits and vegetables, they interact with the acid in our stomach, and the byproduct is Carbon Dioxide. Co2 signals the release of oxygen from hemoglobin & dilates our blood vessels. This process sends more oxygen to our tissues, creating an alkaline environment. An alkaline environment is favorable for optimal well-being and longevity. Exercise also increases our carbon dioxide, thus increasing our oxygen levels. As we age, our bodies' bicarbonates decrease, leading to a more acidic environment. It is this acidity that greatly accelerates aging and leads to chronic illness & disease. Viruses, bacteria, fungus, & mold thrive in acidic environments. When our PH drops below 7.0, they are more capable of invading surrounding cells. CO2 is essential to all living organisms & is definitely not a waste!
